Near the Cross, A devotion by Joni Eareckson Tada
" When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake , a large crowd gathered around him" "Mark 5 :21
Jesus never enjoyed much elbow room during his public ministry. There was always a multitude , pushing and shoving to get close . When he taught in the temple, there was hardly space to breathe. When he taught in a home ,people stood wall-to-wall,spilling put the front yard and hanging from the roof. And when He tried to escape the crowd in a boat, He dropped anchor on the other side only to find another horde awaiting him. No room for Jesus--His life even began that way at the crowded inn. There was one place, however , where where Jesus had more than enough room, almost too much space. It was a place where nobody was shoving to get close, no one wanted a ring side seat. There was plenty of room near the Cross. Sadly , it's true today. Many Christians are satisfied to remain at a safe distance from the Cross. Yet if we are to see real and lasting change in our lives, if we are to reckon ourselves dead to sin, it requires keeping near the Cross.
Here is Mercy Me singing Undone , (one of my favorite songs)which further testifies of the necessity of keeping near the Cross.
I know a lot of fellow bloggers have older parents living alone as I do . Thats why I was so happy to try out the Philips Lifeline, for a month in my Mother 's home. I am a BzzAgent and I agreed to try out the Lifeline for a trail period during which there was no charge . I have two other sisters , we were put more at ease knowing she had this extra help, should she need it . With Philips , you can help a loved one live independently at home by providing them with access to support 24 hours a day .The medical alert service has helped over 6 million seniors and their families through the years. Here are just a few reasons why:
Calls are answered in an average of 30 seconds providing quick access to personalized help
All calls are answered live by dedicated Lifeline Personal Response Associates who receive extensive training and recertification every year
Philips has over 30 years experience supporting the medical alert service needs of older adults and their caregivers

......God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."Hebrews 13:5
When I was a little younger , I registered to win a wind surfer from a local store & to my amazement , I won . My husband & I took it to our nearby lake and tried many times to master windsurfing , but I never became very good at it at all. But it was an interesting experience. I noticed the few times I was successful at actually sailing , that there was a sensation of standing still, & a sort of isolation.I think this was because of being one with the wind ,I no longer felt it blowing against me. I have in my spiritual & prayer life at times felt the same sort of feelings. Times when I was greatly in distress, but finding a silence from God .But I know that Jesus was always there with me because I have the assurance of his word ,that "He would never leave me or forsake me ". In those times, Faith is what carried me through . I believe if we have assurance that we are His , Then we know He is there always & hears us..
Here is a wonderful poem by Amy Carmichael.
The Age -Long Minute
Thou art the God who slept upon the pillow, Thou art the God who smoothed the furious sea, What matter beating wind and tossing billow If only we are in the boat with Thee ?
Hold us in quiet through the age-long minute While thou are silent , and the wind is shrill: Can the boat sink while Thou dear Lord, art in it ? Can the heart faint that waiteth on Thy will?
The song I have for today is, He Is by Mark Schultz. It really spoke to my heart as I listened to it on the radio last week.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8: 38 &39
"Lord, What is Love ? Love is that which inspired My Life , and led Me to My cross, and held Me on My cross. Love is that which will make it thy joy to lay down thy life for thy brethren ." ---- Excerpt from "If " Amy Carmichael
Love through me , Love of God , Make me like Thy clear air Through which unhindered ,colors pass As though they were not there .
Powers of love of Good. Depths of the heart Divine, O Love that faileth not, break forth, And flood this world of Thine ---- Amy Carmichael

Set your Hope fully on the Grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed . 1 Peter 1:13
"Are you sure that your problems baffle the One who since the world began has been bringing flowers from thorns ? Your thorns are a different story, are they? You have been brought to a place place of self-despair, nothingness. It is hard to think of any good reason for going on. You live in most unfavorable conditions, with intractable people, you are up against impossible odds. Is this something new?The people of Israel were up against impossible odds when they found themselves between the chariots of Egypt and the Red sea .Their God is our God. The God of Israel and the God of the gorse thorns looks down on us with with love and says , " Nothing that has happened to you which is not common to all. I can manage it. Trust me ." He wants to transform every form of human suffering into something glorious. He can redeem it . He can bring life out of death..... When our souls lie barren in a winter which seems hopeless and endless . God has not abandoned us . His work goes on . He asks our acceptance of the painful process and our trust that He will indeed give Resurrection Life." Excerpt fromA Path Through Suffering by Elizabeth Elliot
" What if every stroke of pain, an hour of weariness or loneliness , or any other trial of flesh or spirit , could carry us a pulsebeat nearer some other life, some life for which the ministry of prayer is needed ;would it not be worthwhile to suffer ? Ten thousand times yes ! For the further we are drawn into the fellowship of cavalry with our dear Lord, the tenderer we are toward others , the closer alongside does our spirit lie with them that are in bonds; as being ourselves also in the body. God never wastes his children's pain . " Amy Carmichael

It snowed here in NC over the weekend. My first Blue of the day will be this Beautiful Blue Sky I saw as I was traveling down this snowy country lane .
Next ,I have theBlue in this rainbow wind twister in my Rose Garden which has a Wizard of Oz Theme.
Finally, I have this Blue Snowflake Flag.
We have been enjoying our snow days .Here in my part of NC, we don't have them often.I would always rather have snow than ice . Ice can be a real problem , making roads infinitely more treacherous than snow & bringing now trees & power lines . Thanks for stopping by on this Blue Monday, I always enjoy your visits & comments. To visit our wonderful Hostess& for other Blue Monday Pics click HERE. Blessings, ~Myrna Lee
