My heart is fixed , O God, My heart is fixed ;I will sing ,yea, I will sing praises.Psalm 57:7

"Our problems in life are in general of two kinds. The first kind is circumstantial, arising from the turn of events. This may be met and overcome by prayer. The other kind is more personal , the suffering of being hurt or humiliated by others. For such affronts and misunderstandings ,Prayer does not seem to avail . I, myself have prayed, and I know it is futile to wrestle with such problems and to strive in prayer about them . I want to suggest that you should turn instead to Praise .
You should bow your head and say to the Lord . "Lord,I thank you . I receive this bad treatment as if from your hands and I praise you for it all."By, so doing you will find everything is transcended. What the Lord has permitted to come to you cannot be wrong. Everything that He does is perfect. As you thus praise God your spirit rises victorious over your problems and God himself takes care of your hurt feelings.

Hi Blogger Friends,
Welcome to my SS& TSMSS Posts for this week. To visit our SS Host & other Spiritual Posts,Click HERE. To visit our TSMSS Host & other Inspirational Songs click HERE.

This is a devotion from Joni Eareckson Tada 's Devotional book, Diamonds in the Dust.It is entitled:

Things Above

Since then , you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above , where Christ
is seated at the right hand of God,. Set your minds on things above, not on earthy things .
---Colossians 3:1-2

In this verse we are twice commanded .First, we are to set our hearts , then second set our minds on things above . In other words , Things above are to capture our imaginations, emotions, thoughts, feelings ,ideas, and on and on.
Most of us consider this command to be not necessary as other mandates in Scripture. But it is ! When you consider that the first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord with all your heart and mind , it follows naturally that we should set our hearts on things above " where Christ is seated at the right hand of God."
C. H. Spurgeon once said , "Some of you ,right now ,could not be happy if you were allowed to enter Heaven. Shall I tell you why ?It is because heaven is a land of spirit and you have neglected your spirit."
It is the spiritual person who can readily set his heart and mind on Heaven. So,live in the Spirit, walk in the Spirit, abide by the Spirit, pray in the spirit, and you can't help but glean a real and deep longing for heavenly glories above.
What enriches your spirit?
Filling your heart and mind with whatever is true ,noble ,right, pure, lovely, admirable,or anything excellent or praiseworthy. what enriches your spirit? Accessing the means of grace through prayer, worship, the reading of God's word, and fellowship. what enriches your spirit? Trusting and obeying your lord.

She ends with this Prayer.
I want to be a truly spiritual person, Lord, so help me to keep in step with your spirit today. May my flesh diminish and my spirit increase as I set my heart and mind on things above.

Spiritual Sunday

Psalm 139 :14-16

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

Your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be

January is Sanctity of Life Month .Please pray for the Unborn . I believe we should defend the unborn in constructive ways .In the past ,I have written letters to the editor asking everyone to pray for the end of Abortion on demand in our country .I have displayed flags in my front yard that represent lives lost to abortion for awareness . I have handed out fliers to churches .I have mailed paper snowflakes to friends & family to remind them to pray for the unborn . This year my daughter & I are planning a baby shower to collect baby things to give to a crisis pregnancy center. These are just a few ideas of things to do .To fill out an online Thank-You card for Pregnancy Centers at Be a Voice for Life click HERE.

The New Year, A New Thing !

Forget the former things ,do not dwell on the past .See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it ?I am making a way in the dessert and streams in the wasteland ...(for) the people I have formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise .;
---Isaiah 43:18-19,21

"The Lord will never do exactly the same thing a second time around, he will do something better .A new thing .A new way. God specializes in things fresh and firsthand . He is not satisfied with the updated and revised version---He 's always quick to create something new.

His plans for you this year may outshine those of the past . His blueprint is hot- off -the press and He's prepared to fill your days with reasons to give him praise . That's why you can begin the year with hope and expectancy. "
----Joni Eareckson Tada

Here is Matthew West's song The Motions. I don't want to go through the motions either . I want everything in my Life to be done as unto my Lord .This video tells the story of his vocal surgery in 2007, surgery that could have ended his singing career. His trial left him with a renewed desire to serve the Lord as never before .

I would also like to add this poem my 11-yr.old granddaughter Jasmine wrote over the Christmas Season as she was pondering the Birth of Christ.

Walking down the rainy street, muddy ,hurried tracks of feet.
So many people are hurrying away ,Not stopping to enjoy the day.
Our God made this day, our God made us this way,
In His image , a perfect image .
Then we sinned and he was an even closer friend .
And we hurry away, We don't even enjoy this wonderful day .
And he still loves us all the same , He loves us.
---Jasmine Ayscue
