After Jesus was born in Bethlehem Judea ,during the time of Herod,Wise Men came from the east to Jerusalem and asked " Where is the one who has been born the King of Jews ?We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him ".
When King Herod heard this he was disturbed and, all Jerusalem with him . When he called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, He asked them where the the Christ was to be born . " In Bethlehem in Judea , they replied ....
When they heard the King they (the wise men )departed; and low the star ,which they saw in the east, went before them till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star they rejoiced with exceeding great joy .
And when they were come into the house , they saw the young child with Mary his mother , and fell down and worshiped him ;and when they had opened their treasures , they presented unto him gifts:gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
Matthew 2:1-11
A king had been born , Angels and lowly shepherds were the only ones so far to acknowledge this momentous occurrence in human history . Now wise men come out of the east to worship him .He was King of the Jews , but the Jews mostly had ignored his birth . The only major attention he gets is from a jealous King Herod .The Wise men by some divine revelation knew him for who he was and came and brought gifts and worshiped him !
As we celebrate Christmas , we tend to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everything, but, let's not forget to worship him the greatest gift that was given, The Savior of all mankind!
This Fourth Sunday of Advent traditionally is focused on Peace .
On His first coming He brought peace to all through his reconciling work on the cross. To obtain this peace you must accept his free gift of Salvation . When He comes again, He will bring peace to the world , as he takes his rightful place as King of Kings and Lord of Lords .There will be no sustaining peace on this earth until that event occurs .
