What is the meaning of Christian suffering ?Unless we are called to martyrdom, our resisting and striving against sin has not reached the point of bloodshed. Nevertheless, we deplore our lot. Do we expect to have a prosperous road in this life ---to wear a white linen garment and walk leisurely on a golden street leading to a pearly gate?
God has arranged all kinds of environment , all sorts of happenings and many sufferings, all with a view to creating in each of his children a certain character which will glorify Him. To be scourged may be the evidence of His approval. Chastisement is love's arrangement . Love measures and love plans . God may not deal thus with everyone , but He certainly does so with those whom He has accepted as sons (& daughters ). Watchman Nee

Watchman Nee wrote from personal experience of suffering as part of God's plan for his life. It would be to our comfort if we seek understanding, like Watchman Nee, of God's inclusion of suffering in our lives. This is a hard subject that we would like to avoid, but suffering is many times unavoidable as a result of our witness for Christ.
ReplyDeleteLove it....good video.

What an insightful devotional. And it goes so well with the inspirational Bible Verses I've been reading this week in Romans 5!
ReplyDeleteAnd oh, what a blessing this praise and worship music video was! Especially the chorus:
When my world is shaking
Heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave Your hands
Such a blessing and perfect timing. Thank you!!! :)
